ASOS - to sell or not to sell?

February 15, 2012

It seems to me, that ASOS are becoming a little confused.

I was so excited when the Marketplace opened, giving us lots of independent, high quality 'Boutiques' to shop from alongside their standard fashion picks, many specialising in vintage fashion. Afterall, this was ASOS, so surely these would be the best independent fashion stores across the World? And they were. Indeed, they still are.

HOWEVER, the 'Boutique' dept. doesn't have its own separate search facility for individual items. So I am forced to 'search the marketplace' and have to pick through pictures of headless teenagers' bedrooms in yesterday's grubby prom dress. Not my idea of 'boutique' shopping.

To justify this, ASOS's disclaimer reads:
"All the photos you see on Marketplace are ‘real’, shot on a person and taken in natural daylight. The best shots get a spot on ‘The People’s Runway’– our ‘best of Marketplace’ blog.

So if you’re shopping, selling, or just seeking some style inspiration:
Welcome to the Global Fashion Democracy."

Global Fashion DEMOCRACY. Anyone, anywhere, can sell their tat. For Free. Not much fair to those boutiques paying £50 a month for the privilege then.

Anyway, I thought tat was meant for ebay? Just a thought...

Keep on Frocking on the High Street!

November 7, 2011
Pam Cheema's vintage brand 'Frock on Vintage' has spread to the high street - namely Topshop in Birmingham's Bullring.

Not only is Pam one of nicest people you could meet, she's also a genius when it comes to finding the most gorgeous, one-off pieces. Think all the coolest 'vintage' styles from current high street collections - but these are genuine vintage one-offs, made to last - non of your mass produced shoddy workmanship here, thankyouverymuch.

"With only 47 days until Christmas its defini...

Is vintage really ethical fashion? Hells Yeah!

October 2, 2011
I'd never really considered Vintage fashion to be 'ethical'. I've always been rather more enamoured by the snazzy sweaters, slightly wonky but beautiful shoes and abundance of sparkles than the fact that I was 're-using' something. However, after meeting Style & Grit blogger Emily at a Shakti Woman networking event in Birmingham this week, I realised that, actually, vintage is recycling. Who knew?!
